One night, Josh was out BBQ'ing on the patio and he noticed some smoke coming from up above Crescent Bar. About 15-20 minutes later, the canyon was full of smoke and ash. It was really thick. After dinner we jumped in the car and headed to get some ice cream. On our way back, a panicked man stopped us on the road and told us the road up the hill out of Crescent Bar was closed and that we needed to find a boat and leave. He was a little freaked out. The fire never made it down to Crescent Bar, but the road was closed until about 1 AM until they were able to get it contained. We got a little worried for a bit, but we knew they would evacuate us somehow if it got too close. All that smoke sure was stinky!
