nike 5k run for kids

On Saturday Josh, Abby, my brother Brent and me, along with hundreds of other people, ran/walked a 5k put on by Nike in downtown Seattle. It was sort of a yucky day - rained at the beginning of the race, was cloudy - but it ended up being a great event! I absolutely loved it. I pushed Abby in her jogger stroller. The race started on 5th Avenue right next to Westlake Center and went up 5th Avenue to the entrance of the Express Lanes, we walked on the Express Lanes (my FAVORITE part), then back down to Westlake. It was awesome. I "wogged" it -- mostly walked with some jogging thrown in. I finished the 5k (3.1 miles) in just over 47 minutes. I was aiming for 45 minutes, but I did really well. Abby pretty much ate snacks and stared at people the whole time. About 1/2 mile in she started arching her back and saying "all done - all done!"  - I wasn't sure if she would make it the whole way, but she got past her moment of frustration and did great the rest of the way. If you haven't ever done a walk/run like this, I encourage you to try it. It's a lot of fun!
